Melanoma is diagnosed every year, with thousands of people suffering from skin cancer, basal or single cell carcinoma and melanoma. Regular checkups are needed, that’s why the office of Charles L. G. Halasz, M.D. offers regular checkups every 6 to 12 months for those diagnosed with skin cancer or melanoma, or with a family history. Those with a fair complexion or freckles may also want to have themselves checked often or at least a complete skin exam. Dr. Halasz specializes in these and other dermatological disorders, including acne, psoriasis, warts, eczema, mole removal and more. Our Norwalk dermatology office has been treating patients in the area since 1984.
Dr. Halasz offers treatment for sun damage with a technology called photodynamic therapy, or PDT. PDT involves a lotion that is applied to the skin and exposed to a blue light, which helps to break up and treat actinic keratoses or pre-cancerous lesions. Our Norwalk dermatology office also works closely with other providers such as infectious disease specialists, wound care specialists and internists so that we can help each individual patient with their skin problem. Those with conditions that develop skin issues such as lupus, scleroderma or chronic renal disease are also treated in our offices.
Our Norwalk dermatology office can also treat alopecia, a common form of hair loss that begins with one or more circular patches of baldness. It can happen at any age, but can be treated with topical medication or injections. Alopecia may be caused by family history, hypothyroidism, stress or autoimmune disorders. Sometimes pregnancy, rapid weight loss and anemia may also cause alopecia. Dr. Halasz has experience treating patients who suffer from alopecia, from children to adults. We provide general dermatologic care for the entire family and are open during a variety of hours to best accommodate our patient’s schedules.
